Backyard brain busters

We settled back into things with just two days of school before the weekend. The best part was that we got to welcome our classmate Thomas back with some festivities!

Tate is saying, "Oh my gosh I forgot how much I LOVE school!"

I was out in the yard with this guy this weekend and we have some questions for you.

Why do trees lose their leaves in the fall and winter?

What is the purpose of tree bark?

Before you leave a comment, take time to ponder and research your answer. Extra credit for those students who leave a thoughtful or thought provoking reply.

leaves fall because the climate changes in so does the temp.and when temp changes the leaves began to rot and eventually fall and the tree bark protects the inner core from predators and animals harming the core - a word from smart awesome a

well the bark protects the tree from harmful weather and stuff like that and the leaves kind of die and when they die there stem sies to so it cant hold on any more

Trees have bark to protect itself from animals like bears who scratch their becks with the tree. I know it sound wierd, but I've seen that happen before. treesa lose their leaves because the weather gets too cold for them to handle and they receive something like frostbite. I LOVE THE PIC OF TATE BTW ;D

leaves fall off of trees because the season is cold, the trees don,t need their leaves to collect energy from the sun (because the sun isnt out)& the leaves compost and give nutreins to the soil.
the bark of the tree is to protect the tree from frezing also the bark is just dead tree cells.
